Fermi LAT Weekly report N. 332


Covered period: 2014 October 13-19
LAT Mission week: 332.57 - 333.57
 

  • PKS 1510-08 detected in enhanced state all week with a daily flux level ranging between about 0.6E-6 and 2.0E-6. The source displayed a hard photon index (~2) toward the end of the week.
  • Mkn 501 detected in some days of the week. The peak flux was reached on October 19 when the source was detected with six-hour flux level of (0.5 ± 0.3)E-6.
  • S5 0836+71 detected several times during the week at flux level of about 0.8E-6.
  • 3C 454.3 and PKS 1424–418 detected several times during the week.
  • Sporadic other detections (with daily flux lower than about 0.6E-6): 4C +38.41, PKS B1908-201, Mrk 421, PKS 2326-502, 3C 279, NGC 1275, PKS 1441+25, AO 0235+164, GB6 J0742+5444, 4C +01.28, B2 1520+31,  PKS B1222+216 (4C +21.35), PG 1553+113, B2 1144+40, PKS 0426-380.
Fluxes are in the unit of photons/cm^2/s above 100 MeV. All uncertainties are statistical only.

Fermi LAT Weekly report N. 331


Covered period: 2014 October 6-12
LAT Mission week: 331.57 - 332.57
  • Flare of blazar PKS 0336-01 (CTA 26) peaking on October 11, 2014, with a daily flux of about 1.1E-6 about 20 times greater than the average flux reported in the 2FGL catalog. This is the first time that such a high level of GeV emission is detected on daily time scales since the outburst observed by EGRET in 1995 (see ATel #6568 for more details).

    * Flare of blazar PKS B1908-201 (TXS 1908-201, OV -213) peaking on October 12, 2014, with a daily flux of about 1.3E-6 about 10 times greater than the average flux reported in the 2FGL catalog. Also PKS B1908-201 is a known EGRET blazar observed this week in flaring state by the LAT (see ATel #6575 for more details).

    * 3C 454.3 detected in bright state all week with a daily flux level ranging between about 0.8E-6 and 2.1E-6.

    * Flare of 3C 279 on October 12 with daily flux of about 1.6E-6. to be noted that this week the Sun was in conjunction with 3C 279.

    * Mkn 501 active during the week being detected on daily scales all the days with a flux 2x/4X the 2FGL flux.

    * Further bright blazars detected during the week with daily flux in the range of about 0.7E-6 to 1.0E-6: PKS 1510-08, PKS 2326-502, 3C 279, PKS 0426-380, 4C +21.35 (PG 1222+216), NGC 1275 (Per A).

    * Other blazars detected in some days of the week (with daily flux lower than about 0.7E-6): Mkn 421, B2 1144+40, PKS 1424-41, B2 1520+31, PKS 2155-304, 4C +38.41 (B2 1633+38), PG 1553+113, PKS 1352–104, PKS 0502+049

Fluxes are in the unit of photons/cm^2/s above 100 MeV. All uncertainties are statistical only.

Fermi LAT Weekly report N. 330


Covered period: 2014 September 29 - October 5
LAT Mission week: 330.57 - 331.57

  • PKS 0502+049 (recent Fermi-Swift ATel #6425) observed in flaring state peaking on Oct. 1 at 1.4E-6.
  • Detection of a new transient gamma-ray source Fermi J2007-2518 with a rapid flare peaked on Sep. 29 at a daily flux level of 1.5E-6. Source also confirmed in high active state on one week timescale. More details, including first results of a Swift ToO, in ATel#6555.
  • Flare of PKS 1352-104 peaking on Sept. 29 with a daily flux of 0.9E-6 about 20 times greater than the average flux reported in the 2FGL catalog (see ATel #6522 for more details). 
  • 3C 454.3 detected in high state all week with a daily flux level ranging between about 1.5E-6 and 2.8E-6.
  • 4C +21.35 (PG 1222+216) in high state all week with a daily flux level ranging between about 0.7E-6 and 1.3E-6. 
  • CTA 102 detected in high state on Oct. 2 with daily flux level of 1.4e-6.
  • Further bright blazars detected during the week, also sporadically, with daily flux in the range of about 0.6E-6 to 1.0E-6: PKS 1510-08, PKS 2326-502, S5 0836+71, PKS 1406-076, PKS 1424-41, PKS 0454-234, AO 0235+164, PKS 0454-234, S3 0218+35 (lens B0218+35), NGC 1275 (Per A).
  • Other blazars detected in some days of the week (with daily flux lower than about 0.6E-6): S5 0716+71, 4C +38.41 (B2 1633+38), PKS 0336-01, Mkn 501, Mkn 421, PKS 2155-304, PKS 0402-362, PKS 2155-304, B2 1520+31.
  • Results about Fermi LAT and Swift observations of increased activity in blazar PMN J2141-6411 are reported in ATel#6547 issued during the week.
  • Results about Fermi LAT detection of gamma-ray flaring activity from Broad Line Radio Galaxy 3C 120 are reported in ATel #6529 issued during the week.

LAT Mission week: 329.57 - 330.57


  • 3C 454.3 detected in high activity state all week with a daily flux level ranging between about 2.0E-6 and 5.0E-6. The flux peak was reached on Sept 27, with a 6-hour interval flux of about 8.6E-6.
  • PKS 1510-08 detected in quite active state all week with a daily flux level above 1E-6.
  • S5 0716+714 detected below the 1E-6 level in the first part of the week.
  • Mkn 421 detected several times during the week.
  • Further bright blazars detected during the week with a daily flux above the 1E-6 level 4C +21.35 (PG 1222+216) and NGC 1275 (Per A) .
  • Sporadic other detections (with daily flux lower than about 0.6E-6): PKS 2326-502, PKS 0336–01, PKS 0402–362, 4C +55.17, PKS 1424-41 .
Fluxes are in the unit of photons/cm^2/s above 100 MeV. All uncertainties are statistical only.
