Fermi LAT weekly report N. 163



Covered period: 2011 July 18-24

LAT Mission week: 163.57 - 164.57





  • PKS 1510-08, 4C 38.41 (B2 1633+38), and BL Lacertae were above the daily flux level of 1E-6 in some days of the week. PKS 1510-08 reached a flux level of about 6E-6 in the last 6h interval of July 24.

  • The other blazars of the week, detected at least one time in the daily analysis, are: S5 0716+71, B2 1520+31, PKS 0537-441, PKS 1424-41, PKS 2155-304, PKS 2326-502, PKS 2142-75, S4 1749+70, PKS 0454-234, TXS 2247-283 (PMN J2250-2806), PKS 0301-243, 4C 55.17, 4C 38.41, PMN J2345-1555.

  • Other blazars detected on the weekly timescale with an averaged weekly flux above 0.4e-6 are: 3C 279, PKS 1830-211, 4C 28.07, PKS 1622-253.


Fluxes are in the unit of photons/cm^2/s above 100 MeV.

Fermi LAT weekly report N. 161



Covered period: 2011.Jul.04 - 2011.Jul.10

LAT Mission week: 161.57 - 162.57






  • An increasing gamma-ray activity from PKS 1510-089 was detected since July 1, 2011. On July 4 the source reached a gamma-ray flux (E > 100 MeV) of (8.3+/-1.0)e-6 in the daily time scale and a flux of (12.0+/-1.9)e-6 in the 6-hour interval starting at 06:00 UT of the same day (ATel#3473).
    A decrease of the activity was detected in the following days (July 5-8) with a daily flux between (1.5+/-0.6)e-6 and (2.1+/-0.5)e-6.


  • A gamma-ray flare from the flat spectrum radio quasar CGRaBS J1849+6705 was detected on July 6, 2011, with a daily flux of (2.5+/-0.3)e-6 (ATel#3478).


  • A gamma-ray flare from the flat spectrum radio quasar PKS 0235-618 was detected on July 10, with a daily flux of (1.1+/-0.2)e-6.


  • 4C +38.41 detected bright all the week, with a daily flux between (1.2+/-0.2)e-6 and (2.2+/-0.4)e-6.


  • BL Lac detected between July 4 and 9, with a decreasing flux from (1.3+/-0.3)e-6 to (0.5+/-0.2)e-6.


  • SBS 1150+497 detected between July 4 and 6, with a daily flux between (0.3+/-0.1)e-6 and (0.7+/-0.2)e-6.


  • B2 1520+31 detected on July 4, 7, and 8, with a daily flux between
    (0.4+/-0.2)e-6 and (0.7+/-0.2)e-6.


  • S5 0716+714 detected on July 6, 9 and 10, with a daily flux between (0.6+/-0.2)e-6 and (0.9+/-0.2)e-6.


  • Sporadic daily detections of blazars: PKS 0208-512 (July 4 and 5),
    PMN J2345-1555 (July 4 and 7), PKS 0537-441 (July 5), Mrk 421 (July 7), PKS 1622-253 (July 7), PKS 0250-225 (July 10).

Fermi LAT weekly report N.160

  • On June 28 BL Lacertae shows an unusual gamma-ray spectrum with a photon number power-law index of 1.70 +/-0.15 (ATel #3462) in agreement with the TeV flare detection from VERITAS.

  • PKS 1510-089 continues its high activity reaching a daily flux around (4.2 +/- 0.7)X 10-6 on Jul 03.


  • 3C 279 and 4C 38.41 (B2 1633+38) bright for most of this week (daily flux approaching and around 1 X 10-6).


  • B2 1520+31, PKS 0537-441, PKS 0250–225, PMN J2345–1555,PKS 1424–41, PKS 0521–36, MKN 421 detected in one or two days of the week (flux below 1 X 10-6 ).

  • CRATES J1239+0443 detected also this week with a low daily flux in the range 0.4-0.5 X 10-6 on Jun. 20 and 22 and flaring with flux (1.1 +/- 0.4) X 10-6 on Jun. 23.

  • B2 1520+31 detected from Jun. 22 to Jun. 26 with daily flux in the range 0.5-1.2 X 10-6.

  • 4C +38.41 detected from Jun. 24 to Jun. 26 with daily flux in the range 0.9-1.6 X 10-6.

  • BL Lac detected on Jun. 23 and 24 with daily flux in the range 0.7-1.1 X 10-6.

  • The radio-loud narrow-line Sy1 galaxy SBS 0846+513 was detected on Jun. 21 with daily flux of (0.8+/-0.2) X 10-6 (see ATel#3452).

  • Sporadic activity (fluxes above 1.0 X 10-6) observed from CGRaBS J0948+0022 (1.1 on Jun. 20), 3C 279 (1.1 on Jun. 26), PKS 1510-08 (3.6 on Jun. 26).

  • Sporadic activity (fluxes below 1.0 X 10-6) observed from 4C +28.07 (0.5 on Jun. 21), PKS 0250-225 (0.7 on Jun. 23), CGRaBS J0721+7120 (0.6 on Jun. 20), CRATES J0742+5444 (0.5 on Jun. 20), CGRaBS J1849+6705 (0.7 on Jun. 20), PKS 1055+01 (0.4 on Jun. 20), 1150+497 (0.4 on Jun. 24), PKS 1502+106 (0.8 on Jun. 23), CGRaBS J1849+6705 (0.4 on Jun. 22), PKS 2032+107 (0.5 on Jun. 24), PMN J2345-1555 (0.8 on Jun. 20).

  • FSRQs MG1 J123931+0443 (z=1.762) and GB6 J0742+5444 ( z=0.72) both active during the week and both flaring on June 19 (daily flux 1.1 +/- 0.3 X 10-6 and daily flux 1.0±0.2 X 10-6 respectively). See ATel#3445.

  • 3C 279 bright during this week (flux approaching and around 1 X 10-6).

  • PMN J0948+0022 detected on June 19 with daily flux around 1.4 X 10-6 .

  • PKS 1830-211, 4C +38.41, B2 1520+31, PKS 0537-441, PKS 2326–502, PMN J2345-1555, BL Lac detected in one or two days of the week (flux below 1 X 10-6 ).

  • Bright gamma-ray flaring emission from the Sun on June 7 with an increase of two orders of magnitude with respect to quiet solar disk emission. See ATel#3417.

  • Flare of flat spectrum radio quasar PKS 1622-253 on June 7 (daily flux (2.0 ± 0.3) E-6). See ATel#3424. 

  • Flare of the narrow-line Seyfert-1 galaxy PMN J0948+0022 (daily flux (1.5 ± 0.3) E-6). See ATel#3429.

  • Other bright blazars in daily intervals of the week: CTA 102, BL Lacertae, S5 0716+71, 3C 279, B2 1520+31, OX 169.

  • Other daily-detected blazars during the week: PMN J2345–1555, PKS 2155-304, 3C 454.3, Mkn 501, Mkn 421, PKS 2326-502, PKS 1244-255, S4 1749+70, PKS 2326-502, PKS 0537-441, GB6 J0742+5444, 4C 28.07, 4C 21.35, S5 0836+71, S4 1849+67.

Fermi LAT weekly report N. 156



Covered period: 2011.May.30 - 2011.June.05

LAT Mission week: 156.57 - 157.57





  • PMN J1123-6417 was detected in flaring state on May 30, with a daily flux of (1.4+/-0.4)e-6 (ATel #3394). PMN J1123-6417 is a likely AGN of uncertain type at a Galactic latitude, b=-3 deg. This association is confirmed also by Mahony et al. (2010) using the AT20G survey catalog. No redshift is known for this object.


  • A gamma-ray flare from the high-redshift (z=2.07) blazar PKS 0528+134 was detected on June 5, 2011, with a daily flux of (1.1+/-0.4)e-6 (ATel #3412).


  • PKS 1622-253 detected in flaring state on June 4 and 5, with a daily flux of (1.1+/-0.3)e-6 and (1.0+/-0.3)e-6, respectively. This high activity reached a peak flux of (2.0+/-0.3)e-6 on June 7 and has continued in the following days, as reported in the ATel #3424.


  • CTA 102 detected very bright on 31 May, with a daily flux of (2.5+/-0.5)e-6.


  • PMN J2345-1555 detected in high state between 30 May and 3 June, with a decreasing flux from (1.0+/-0.2)e-6 to (0.7+/-0.2)e-6.


  • 4C +38.41 detected bright on May 30, May 31, and June 2, with daily flux between 1.1e-6 and 1.3e-6.


  • B2 1520+31 detected in high state on June 4 and 5, with a daily flux of (1.0+/-0.3)e-6 and (1.4+/-0.4)e-6, respectively.


  • NGC 1275 detected in high state on May 31, June 1 and June 4 with a daily flux between (0.9+/-0.3)e-6 and (0.3+/-0.1)e-6.


  • BL Lac detected on May 30, May 31 and June 4, with a daily flux between 0.6e-6 and 0.8e-6.


  • 3C 279 detected bright on June 2 and 3, with a daily flux between 1.0e-6 and 1.2e-6.


  • Sporadic daily detections of blazars: CGRaBS J1849+6705 (June 1), CRATES J0850+4854 (June 2), PKS 1424-41 (June 2), PKS 2052-47 (June 2).
