Fermi LAT Weekly report N. 398


Covered period: 2016.Jan.18 - 2016.Jan.24
LAT Mission week: 398.57 - 399.57

  • Increasing gamma-ray flux from a source positionally consistent with the microquasar Cygnus X-3, with the  most significant detection on Jan 21±2 days, with a flux  of (1.0±0.2). See ATel#8591
  • 3C 454.3 bright all week with daily flux between (2.8±0.3) and (6.5±0.5).
  • CTA 102 bright all week (but Jan 19) with daily flux between (1.4±0.3) and (3.6±0.3).
  • PKS 1502+106 active during the week with daily flux between (0.7± 0.2) and (1.2±0.6).
  • NGC1275 active during the week with daily flux between (0.3± 0.1) and (0.7±0.2).
  • 3C 279 detected on Jan 19 with flux (1.1±0.3), and then fading down to (0.3± 0.1) on Jan 23.
  • Sporadic daily detections of blazars (flux below 1): PKS B1424–418, 4C +01.02, S5 0716+71, Mkn 421, B2 1846+32A, PKS 2155–304, AO 0235+164, PKS 2023–07, PKS 1717+177, PKS 0336–01, PKS 0454–234, BL Lacertae, S4 0954+65, Ton 599, PKS 1313-333, 1ES 1959+650, TXS 2241+406, 3C 66A, 4C 38.41, PKS 2052-47, PKS 2233-148, PMN J2345-155, PKS 1441+25, S2 0109+22.

  • New gamma-ray source in the Galactic plane Fermi J0035+6131 detected on 14 Jan with daily flux (0.57±0.15). See ATel#8554.
  • AO 0235+164 active during the week with daily flux between (0.6±0.1) and (1.1±0.1).
  • 3C 454.3 bright all week with daily fluxes between (2.4±0.4) and (4.7±0.4).
  • PKS 1502+106 active during the week with daily flux between (0.7± 0.2) and (1.7±0.6).
  • PKS 1313–333 active between 11 Jan and 16 Jan with daily fluxe between (0.8±0.2) and (1.2±0.2).
  • CTA 102 active between 13 Jan and 17 Jan with daily fluxe between (1.2±0.2) and (2.0±0.3).
  • 3C 273 detected on 15 Jan with daily flux (1.1±0.2).

Fermi LAT Weekly report N. 396


Covered period: 2016 January 4-10
LAT Mission week:
396.57-397.57
  • Enhanced gamma-ray activity of the Crab nebula. The source has surpassed the 4.0e-6 daily flux level five times in 12 days and has reached the value of 4.7e-6 on January 7 (more details in ATel#8519). The source seems dimmed to normal flux level at the end of the week.
    A 250ks Fermi ToO has been performed.
  • Flare of PKS 1313-333 observed with daily flux 1.3e-6 on January 10. This is the first flare announced at this flux level by Fermi (more details in ATel#8533). The source is still increasing its daily flux also on January 11.
  • The gravitationally lensed LAT blazars S3 0218+35 (lens B0218+357) and PKS 1830-211 are both active on January 8. They are detected with daily fluxes respectively of 0.5e-6 and 1.3e-6. Both sources are quiescent at the end of the week.
  • 3C 454.3 with daily fluxes between 2.0e-6 and 3.4e-6.
  • PKS 1424-41 in high state during the second half of the week with daily fluxes between 1.1e-6 and 1.4e-6.
  • PKS 1502+106 with daily fluxes between 0.8e-6 and 1.0e-6.
  • PKS 2023-07 with daily fluxes between 0.7e-6 and 1.0e-6.
  • 3C 279 with daily fluxes between 0.6e-6 and 0.9e-6.
  • S5 0716+71 with daily fluxes between 0.5e-6 and 0.8e-6.
  • CTA 102 detected on January 4 at 0.9e-6.
  • Other blazars of the week detected, also sporadically, around or below about 0.5e-6:  PKS 0208-512, PKS 0336-01, PKS 0301–243, PKS 1118-05, Mkn 421, PKS 2155-304, PKS 0454–234, PKS 0405-385, PKS 0426–380, 4C +01.02 (PKS 0106+01), Mkn 501, BL Lac, 3C 273, GB6 J1037+5711, PKS 0244-470, OJ 287, AO 0235+164, NGC 1275, B2 1520+31, 4C +38.41 (B2 1633+38), B2 1846+32A, PKS 0537-441, PMN J1331-1326, PKS 1035-281, Ton 599, TXS 1343+073, PKS 1510-08, NVSS J141828+354250, OJ 287, NRAO 62 (4C +31.03), 1ES 1959+650, 3C 66A, TXS 2241+406, PKS B0027-024, PKS 1717+177, S4 1849+67 (CGRaBS J1849+6705), S4 1030+61, S4 1800+44.

  • 3C 454.3 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (1.7±0.3) and (4.4±0.4).
  • TXS 1923+123 was detected on Dec. 30 with a daily averaged flux of (1.0±0.3). See ATel #8492

  • Flare of the NL-Sy1 galaxy PKS 1502+036 with peak daily flux of 0.9e-6 (17X the 3FGL flux) reached on December 20 (see more details in ATel#8447 and ATel#8450).
  • Hard flare of the BL Lac object PKS 1717+177 on December 16 with daily flux 0.4e-6 (20X the 3FGL flux) and ph.index 1.7 (more details in ATel#8427).
  • Flare of PKS 2155-304 with peak daily flux of 0.8e-6 (6.5X the 3FGL flux) reached on December 14.
  • Flare of gravitationally lensed blazar PKS 1830-211 on December 15 and 16, with daily flux 1.6e-6.
  • Flare of PKS 2320-035 on December 18 with daily with daily flux at 1.0e-6.
  • CTA 102 bright during the week with daily flux between 0.8e-6 and 1.0e-6.
  • PKS 1424-41 bright during the week with daily flux between 0.8e-6 and 0.9e-6.
  • AO 0235+164 bright during the week with daily flux between 0.7e-6 and 0.9e-6.
  • Flare of PKS 1622-29 on December 20 with daily with daily flux at 0.9e-6 (16X the 3FGL flux).
  • Flare of 1ES 1215+303 on December 14 with daily flux at 0.6e-6 (12X the 3FGL flux).
  • 3C 454.3 with daily fluxes between 0.5e-6 and 1.4e-6.
  • Further bright blazars of the week detected with daily flux between about 0.6e-6 and 0.8e-6: S5 0836+71 (4C +71.07), 4C +01.02 (OC 12, PKS 0106+01), B2 1520+31 and PKS 1502+106.

  • 4C +40.25 (B2 1020+40) was detected Nov. 20 through Nov. 22 with daily averaged fluxes between (0.4 +/- 0.1) and (0.8 +/- 0.2). See ATel #8339 for more information.
  • B2 1846+32B was detected Nov. 19 and Nov. 20 with daily averaged fluxes of (1.0 +/- 0.1). See ATel #8315 for more information.
  • TXS 2241+406 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (0.2 +/- 0.1) and (1.2 +/- 0.2). See ATel #8319 for more information.
  • Ton 599 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (0.4 +/- 0.1) and (1.0 +/- 0.2). See ATel #8319 for more information.
  • 4C +01.02 (PKS 0106+01) was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (0.4 +/- 0.1) and (2.8 +/- 0.3). See ATel #8319 for more information.
  • 3C 454.3 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (1.6 +/- 0.3) and (3.2 +/- 0.3).
  • PKS 0336-01 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (0.4 +/- 0.1) and (1.4 +/- 0.2).
  • S5 0836+71 (4C +71.07) was detected Nov. 19 and Nov. 20 with daily averaged fluxes of (0.8 +/- 0.1) and (0.9 +/- 0.2), respectively.
  • 3C 279 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (0.9 +/- 0.3) and (1.5 +/- 0.3).
  • PKS 1424-41 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (0.7 +/- 0.3) and (1.1 +/- 0.3).
