Fermi LAT Weekly report N. 430


Covered period: 2016 August 29 - September 4
LAT Mission week: 430.57-431.57

  • Flare of the GeV-TeV BL Lac object AP Librae with daily flux 1.1e-6 and peak 6h flux 2.5e-6 on Aug.30. More details in ATel#9442.
  • Outburst of PKS 1510-08 with daily flux peaking at 5.3e-6 on Sept.3.
  • Flare of blazar MG2 J201534+3710 with daily flux 1.6e-6 on Aug.30.
  • PKS 1824-582 detected almost all week with daily fluxes above 0.7e-6 and peaking on Sept. 3 with daily flux 1.3e-6.
  • CTA 102 detected all week in high state with daily fluxes between about 2.4e-6 and 3.2e-6.
  • 3C 454.3 detected all week with daily fluxes between about 1.8e-6 and 3.5e-6.
  • Increased activity of Cen A detected on Sep.1 with daily flux 0.8e-6.
  • 4C +01.02 (PKS 0106+01) detected all week with daily fluxes between about 0.7e-6 and 1.3e-6.
  • S5 1044+71 detected all week with daily fluxes between about 0.6e-6 and 0.8e-6.
  • PKS 0502+049 detected all week with daily fluxes between about 0.6e-6 and 0.8e-6.
  • BL Lac object 3C 371 detected at 0.2e-6 on Aug.30.
  • Possible hard state of the BL Lac object TXS 1055+567 (7C 1055+5644, GB6 J1058+5628, z=0.1433) detected on Sept. 1 with daily flux 0.06e-6 and ph.index 1.5.
  • Other blazars of the week detected, also sporadically, around or below 0.5e-6:
    PG 1553+113 and 3C 66A (both in possible hard state with flux about 0.1e-6 and photon index about 1.5), MG1 J021114+1051, PKS 2155-304, PKS 1424-41, PKS 1502+106, PKS 2052-47, 1ES 1215+303 (or PG 1218+304), NGC 1275, gravitationally lensed blazar S3 0218+35 (lens B0218+357), 4C +55.17, 1ES 1959+650, PKS 0002-478, S4 1849+67, BL Lac, PKS 0426-380, PKS 0402-362, TXS 2241+406, S4 0110+49.
  • Enhanced activity of the microquasar Cyg X-3 being detected during some days of the week.
  • Quiet Sun and the Moon detected in a few 6h intervals of the week.

  • 3C 454.3 detected all week with daily flux between (2.3 ± 0.3) and (3.9 ± 0.4)
  • CTA 102 detected all week with daily flux between (1.2 ± 0.2) and (3.1 ± 0.4)
  • 4C +01.02 detected all week with daily flux between (1.0 ± 0.2) and (2.2 ± 0.2)
  • Preliminary unassociated detection LAT ASP J043240-040033 (flux: (0.5 ± 0.1) e-6) most likely is consistent with an afterglow of MAXI GRB 151212A that seems to has faded since the last observation reported in GCN 18687.

    • 4C +01.02 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (1.1 +/- 0.2) and (1.7 +/- 0.2).
    • 3C 454.3 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (2.1 +/- 0.3) and (2.4 +/- 0.3).
    • PKS 1510-08 was detected Aug. 9, 10 and 11 with daily averaged fluxes of (2.0 +/- 0.3), (2.1 +/- 0.4) and (1.3 +/- 0.3), respectively.
    • S5 1044+71 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (0.7 +/- 0.2) and (1.4 +/- 0.2).
    • CTA 102 was detected Aug. 10, 11, 14 with a daily averaged flux of (0.8 +/- 0.2), (0.8 +/- 0.2) and (1.2 +/- 0.2), respectively.
    • New gamma-ray transient Fermi J0751-5136 was detected in the week of 18 July through 25 July, 2016. See ATel #9340
    • Sporadic daily detections of blazars (fluxes below 1): PKS 0426-380, PKS 0346-27, AO 0235+164, PKS B1424-418, PKS 2155-304, Mkn 421, PKS 0454-234, 1ES 1959+650, PKS 0447-439, PKS 0521-36.

    • 3C 454.3 was detected Aug 1, 2, 6 and 7 with daily averaged fluxes between (1.4 +/- 0.4) and (4.7 +/- 1.2).
    • 4C +01.02 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (1.1 +/- 0.2) and (2.0 +/- 0.2).
    • PKS 0502+049 was detected Aug. 1, 4 and 7 with daily averaged fluxes of (1.0 +/- 0.2), (0.3 +/- 0.1) and (0.3 +/- 0.1), respectively.
    • PKS 0507+17 was detected Aug. 1 with a daily averaged flux of (1.0 +/- 0.2).
    • Fermi LAT made no significant gamma-ray excess associated with IceCube event 160731. See ATel #9303
    • TOO observations of PSR J1119-6127 were in progress all week.
    • Sporadic daily detections of blazars (fluxes below 1): PKS 0454-234, PKS 1610-77, AO 0235+164, PKS 0426-380, GB6 J1037+5711, PKS 0346-27, PKS B1424-418, PKS 2155-304, PKS 0116-219, PKS 0521-36.

    • CTA 102 detected all week with daily flux between (1.5±0.2) and (2.2±0.5).
    • 4C +01.02 detected all week with daily flux between (0.8±0.1) and (1.2±0.2).
    • 3C 454.3 detected all week with daily flux between (1.4±0.2) and (4.2±0.7).
    • Sporadic activity (fluxes below 1): PKS B1424-418, S5 1044+71, TXS 2241+406, PKS 1510-08, PKS 0208-512, PKS 0454-234, NRAO 512, S4 1030+61, PG 1553+113, PMN J1332-1256, PKS 0426-380, PKS 0727-11, Ton 599, S5 0716+71, 4C +01.28, PKS 1256-220, Mrk 421, NGC 1275, PKS 1502+106, PKS 1610-77, PKS 0537-441, 4C +48.41, VER 0521+211.

    Fermi LAT Weekly report N. 423


    Covered period: 2016 June 11-17
    LAT Mission week: 423.57-424.57

    • Record outburst of OT 081 (4C +09.57, PKS 1749+096) detected on July 16 with daily flux 3.9e-6 (70 times the 3FGL catalog averaged flux) and with 6-hour interval peak flux of 7.0e-6. Daily flux 2.4e-6 on July 17.
    • Flare of 4C +01.02 (PKS 0106+01) detected on July 14 with daily flux 2.3e-6 (18 times the 3FGL catalog averaged flux). It is detected in high state (>1.5e-6) in the other days of the week.
    • First strong flare of PKS 0403-13 (z=0.571) detected on July 11 with daily flux 1.6e-6 (140 times the 3FGL catalog averaged flux). Daily flux 1.3e-6 on July 12 (see ATel#9242 for more details).
    • TeV blazar 1ES 1959+650 active during the week, peaking on July 12 with daily flux 0.5e-6.
    • PKS 1256-220 detected all week. Flaring activity is observed on July 12 with daily flux 0.8e-6 (24 times the 3FGL catalog averaged flux).
    • 3C 454.3 with daily fluxes between about 1.7e-6 (on July 16) and 3.8e-6 (on July 11).
    • CTA 102 with daily fluxes between about 0.7e-6 and 1.5e-6.
    • PKS 0502+049 in high state with daily fluxes between about 0.7e-6 and 0.9e-6.
    • PKS 0426-380 with daily fluxes between about 0.5e-6 and 0.9e-6.
    • Gravitational lens B0218+357 (S3 0218+35) detected on July 12 at 0.3e-6.
    • Preliminary unassociated detection ASP J132608-054322 on July 12. The candidate gamma-ray blazar PKS B1324-047 (TXS 1324-047, CGRaBS/CRATES/BZcat catalog source, z=1.8820) is within 1 degree of the gamma-ray position.
    • PKS 0454-234, AO 0235+164, S5 1044+71, PKS 1510-08, PKS 1424-41, PKS 0208-512 all detected sporadically during the week with with daily fluxes between about 0.5e-6 and 0.8e-6.
    • Other blazars of the week detected, also sporadically, around or below 0.5e-6: BL Lac, NGC 1275, Mkn 421, PKS 2023-07, PKS 2052-47, 3C 279, PG 1553+113, TXS 2241+406, TXS 2358+209, PKS 1335-127 , VER 0521+211, OX 169, PKS 0301-243, 4C +55.17 (S4 0954+55), PKS 2155-304, 3C 66A, S4 1749+70, OJ 287, PMN J1332-1256, AP Lib.
