Fermi LAT weekly report N. 201



Covered period: 2012.April.09 - 2012.April.16

LAT Mission week: 201.57 - 202.57





  • BL Lacertae quite active during the week reaching a daily flux of 2.3x10-6 on April 9th. See ATel #4028. It was also detected on April 14th and 15th with a flux of ~1.4x10-6.


  • PKS 1510-089 and S5 0716+71 continue to be detected most of the week reaching the the daily flux of 1x10-6 and 0.310-6 respectively.

  • Mrk 421 detected on 11th, 12th and 14th April reaching a daily flux of 0.2x10-6.


  • B3 1708+433, PKS 0454-234, PMN J2250-2806, PKS 0426--380, PKS 1424-41 and B2 1520+31 detected in more than one day of the week with a flux below 1x10-6


  • S5 1803+78, PKS 1346-112, S4 0218+35, PKS 1954--388 , PKS B1339--206 and B3 1343+451 detected in just one day of the week with a flux below 1x10-6



Fluxes are in the unit of photons/cm2/s above 100 MeV. All errors are statistical only.

Fermi LAT weekly report N. 200



Covered period: 2012.April.02 - 2012.April.08

LAT Mission week: 200.57 - 201.57





  • A new transient gamma-ray source near the Galactic plane (b = -8.1 deg) was detected on April 7, 2012 with a daily flux of (1.0±0.3)x10-6. On April 8, 2012 the source reached a daily flux of (1.6±0.3)x10-6. Based on one week of Fermi LAT monitoring data the origin of this gamma-ray source was localized to RA,Dec: 17h17m14.64s, -51h56m49.20s, with a 95% confidence error circle radius of 0.18 deg. The nearby compact radio source PMN J1717-5155 is consistent with the LAT position (ATel #4023), which is probably a gamma-ray blazar (ATel #4029).



  • BL Lacertae was detected on April 5 with a flux of (1.4±0.3)x10-6. It was also detected on April 2nd and 7th with a flux of ~0.6x10-6.


  • PKS 1510-089 was detected with a flux of (1.5±0.5)x10-6 and (1.2±0.4)x10-6 on April 4th and 8th, respectively.


  • PKS 1424-413 was detected with a flux of (1.2±0.3)x10-6 on April 6th
  • .

  • Sporadic activity (fluxes below 1x10-6): PKS 2326-502 (April 5-6), PKS 0426-380 (April 6-8), PKS 0537-441 & PKS 2255-282 (April 4), PKS 0716+714 (April 2), B2 1520+31, PKS 2155-304, and Mrk 421 (all April 3 and 6)



Fluxes are in the unit of photons/cm2/s above 100 MeV. All errors are statistical only.

  • BL Lacertae detected in high gamma-ray activity on March 30 and April 1, with a daily flux of (1.4+/-0.3)x10-6 and (0.7+/-0.2)x10-6, respectively.


  • PKS 0454-234 detected on March 26, 27, 28, 30, and 31, with a daily flux between (0.5+/-0.2)x10-6 and (0.8+/-0.2)x10-6.


  • Mrk 421 detected on March 26, 29, 31, and April 1 with a daily flux between 0.1x10-6 and 0.3x10-6.


  • Sporadic activity (fluxes below 1x10-6): PMN J0531-4827 (March 26), PKS 1244-255 (March 26 and 28), B2 1520+31 (March 27 and 29), PKS 0426-380 (March 28), PKS 2052-47 (March 30).



Fluxes are in the unit of photons/cm2/s above 100 MeV. All errors are statistical only.

Fermi LAT weekly report N. 198

  • A new gamma-ray source ASPJ053850+143951 in the vicinity of the flat spectrum radio quasar TXS 0536+145 (z=2.69) was detected on high activity on March 22, with a daily flux of (0.6±0.2) X 10-6. See ATel#3999.

  • S5 0716+71 detected on March 19, 20, 21, and 22, with a daily flux between (0.5±0.2) X 10-6 and (0.6±0.2) X 10-6.

  • PKS 1510-08 detected on high state on March 19, 20, and 21, with a daily flux between (2.7±0.5) X 10-6 and (1.1±0.3) X 10-6.

  • PKS 0454-234 detected on March 19, 24, and 25, with a daily flux between (0.8±0.2) X 10-6 and (1.0±0.2) X 10-6.

  • BL Lacertae detected on March 23 and 24 with a daily flux of (0.9±0.2) X 10-6 and (0.7±0.2) X 10-6, respectively.

  • Sporadic daily detections of blazars (fluxes below 1 X 10-6 ): B2 2155+31 (March 19), PKS 0537-441 (March 20), B3 1343+451 (March 21), PMN J0531-4827 (March 25), PKS 1244-255 (March 25).


  • Fluxes are in the unit of photons/cm2/s above 100 MeV. All errors are statistical only.

Fermi LAT weekly report N. 196



Covered period: 2012 March 5-11 LAT Mission week: 196.57 -
197.57




  • Significant gamma-ray emission detected by the LAT from relevant Solar Flares occurred on March 5, March 7 and March 9.

  • PKS 1510-08 subject to an enduring high gamma-ray brightness state all week (weekly average flux about 3.7E-6).

  • S5 0716+71, PKS 1424-41, Mkn 421 are detected most days of the week (below daily level of  1E-6).

  • PKS 0454-234,  B3 1343+451, Ton 599, B2 1520+31, BL Lac, Mkn 501,  PKS 2255-282, S5 1803+78 are the other blazars detected in one or some days of the week.

  • Crab source actively rumbling during the week, exceeding the daily flux level of 4E-6 in the midst of the week.


Fluxes are in the unit of photons/cm^2/s above 100 MeV.

Fermi LAT weekly report N. 195

  • PKS 1510-089 (z=0.36) was active all week with fluxes ranging between 4.5 and 7.1 X 10-6.

  • BL Lac was detected at (1.3 +/- 0.3) X 10-6 on February 27 and later continued at flux levels 0.7 - 1.0 X 10-6 until March 3.

  • PKS 0402–362 was detected at (1.8 +/- 0.4) X 10-6 on March 3.

  • S5 716-71 continued to be detected at flux level (0.5 +/- 0.1) X 10-6 or below until February 29

  • PKS B1424-418, PKS 2255-282, S5 1803+784, B3 1343+451, PKS 2326--502, PKS 0454--234 were detected sporadically throughout the week at flux levels below 1 X 10-6.

Fermi LAT weekly report N. 194

  • PKS 1510-089 (z=0.36) was active all week with fluxes ranging from 2.3-7.4 X 10-6

  • PKS 0402-362 was bright on February 20 at a flux of (1.1 ± 0.3) X 10 -6 it declined to (0.7 ± 0.2) X 10^-6 on Tuesday and then was not detected the rest of the week.

  • PKS 2255-282 was detected at a flux of 1 X 10-6 on February 26 2012, since this was the first time a flare from this source has been detected Atel #3948 was submitted.

  • S5 716-71 was detected every day this at flux level at or below (0.5 ± 0.1) X 10-6

  • PKS 0454-234 was detected at (1.0 ± 0.3) X 10-6 on February 26.

  • PKS 1424-41, NGC 1275, 4C +28.07, Mrk 421, PKS 0537-441, S5 1803+78, PKS 0521-36, PMN J2250-2806, PKS 2326-502 detected sporadically throughout the week at flux levels below 1 X 10-6.
