Fermi LAT Weekly report N. 293



Covered period: 2014.January.13 - 2014.January.19
LAT Mission week: 293.57 - 294.57

  • S5 1044+71 detected in flaring activity on January 17 with a daily flux (1.3±0.4) X 10-6. See ATel#5784. The source was also detected on January 16 and 18, with a daily flux (0.9±0.4) X 10-6 and (0.6±0.3) X 10-6, respectively.
  • 3C 279 detected from January 13 to 18, with a daily flux between (0.6±0.2) X 10-6 and (2.5±0.4) X 10-6.
  • 4C +38.41 detected on January 13, 14, 15, 17, and 19, with a daily flux between (0.5±0.1) X 10-6 and (0.7±0.1) X 10-6.
  • NGC 1275 detected on January 14, 15, 17, 18, and 19, with a daily flux between (0.7±0.2) X 10-6 and (1.1±0.3) X 10-6.
  • B3 1343+451 detected on January 14, 15, 16, 18, and 19, with a daily flux between (0.3±0.1) X 10-6 and (0.6±0.2) X 10-6.
  • PKS 2326-502 detected on January 13, 15, 17, and 18, with a daily flux between (0.6±0.2) X 10-6 and (1.0±0.3) X 10-6.
  • PKS 1510-08 detected on January 13, 18, and 19, with a daily flux between (0.4±0.1) X 10-6 and (0.9±0.2) X 10-6.
  • 4C +21.35 detected from January 15 to 17, with a daily flux between (0.5±0.2) X 10-6 and (0.6±0.2) X 10-6.
  • CTA 102 detected on January 16 with a daily flux of (1.8±0.9) X 10-6.
  • Sporadic activity (daily fluxes below 10-6): PKS 0135-247 (January 13), PKS 1424-418 (January 14 and 16), PKS 0735+17 (January 15), S4 1144+40 (January 15), GB6 J1542+6129 (January 15), 4C +28.07 (January 16), PKS 0426-380 (January 17), PKS 2322-482 (January 17), Mrk 501 (January 18), B2 1520+31 (January 19), and 1ES 1959+650 (January 19).
  • Fluxes are in the unit of photons/cm2/s above 100 MeV. All errors are statistical only.

Fermi LAT Weekly report N. 292


Covered period: 2014 January 6-12
LAT Mission week: 292.57 - 293.57

  • 4C +21.35 (PG 1222+216)  showed a short flare on January 7 with a daily flux of about 1.6E-6.
  • PKS 1424-41 and PKS 2326-502 both bright and detected in most of the days of the week, the former peaking at about 1.2E-6 on January 8 and the latter at 1E-6 on January 7 and 9.
  • Flare of 4C +01.02 (OC 12, PKS 0106+01) on January 10 with a daily flux of about 1E-6.
  • 4C +38.41 (B2 1633+38) was in high state on January 7 with a daily flux about 1E-6 and 3C 454.3 on January 12 with a daily flux 1.2E-6.
  • Further bright blazars detected in some days of the week with a daily flux in the range 0.6-0.8E-6:  NGC 1275 (Per A), S5 1044+71, 3C 279, PKS 1510-08, PKS 0250-225.
  • Other blazars detected sporadicly during the week and with a daily flux equal or lower than about 0.5E-6: PMN J1626-2426, Mkn 421, Mkn 501, B2 1520+31, PKS 0301-243, NRAO 530 (PKS 1730-13), PKS 0426-380, PKS 0208-512, PKS 1622-29. 
  • GRBs detected by the LAT during the week: GRB 140110A.
  • X1.2 solar flare detected by the LAT on January 7.

Fluxes are in the unit of photons/cm^2/s above 100 MeV. All uncertainties are statistical only.

LAT Mission week: 291.57 - 292.57

  • 3C 279 in high state during the week with daily flux above 1E-6 and peaking on January 1 at about 1.8E-6.
  • 4C +21.35 (PG 1222+216)  in high state during the week with daily flux above 1E-6 and peaking on January 3 and 5 at about 1.7E-6.
  • PKS 2326-502 bright in some days of the week and peaking on January 3 at about 1.3E-6.
  • 4C +38.41 (B2 1633+38) and PKS 1424-41 both bright in some days of the week and peaking at about 1.2E-6 respectively on January 3 and 5.
  • NGC 1275  (Per A) increased its activity during the week reaching a daily flux level of about 1E-6 on January 2, 3 and 5. 
  • S5 1044+71 rather bright during the week and peaking on December 31, January 1 and 2 at about 0.8E-6.  
  • Other blazars detected in some days of the week with a daily flux lower than about 0.7E-6: PG 1553+113, PKS 1510-089, Mkn 421, PKS 0735+17, PKS 0208-512, B3 1343+451, PKS 0426-380, PKS 0454-234, 3C 454.3, PKS 0336-01,  4C +28.07 (OD 258, B2 0234+28).
  • Three GRBs clearly detected by the LAT during the week: GRB 131231A, GRB 140102A and GRB 140104B.

Fluxes are in the unit of photons/cm^2/s above 100 MeV. All uncertainties are statistical only.

Fermi LAT Weekly Report N. 290

  • A flare from PKS 2136-642 was detected. It peaked on Dec. 23 with a daily averaged flux of (1.3 +/- 0.4) (See ATel #5695)
  • PKS 1730-13 was detected Dec. 23 with a daily averaged flux of (1.5 +/- 0.3).
  • 4C +21.35 was detected all week with a daily averaged flux between (0.8 +/- 0.3) and (1.8 +/- 0.3).
  • PKS 2326-502 was detected all week with a daily averaged flux between (0.8 +/- 0.2) and (2.0 +/- 0.6).
  • 3C 279 was detected all week with a daily averaged flux between (1.3 +/- 0.4) and (2.0 +/- 0.5).
  • PKS 0426-380 was detected all week with a daily averaged flux between (0.5 +/- 0.2) and (1.1 +/- 0.2).
  • Sporadic daily detections of blazars (fluxes below 1): Mkn 421, NGC 1275, PKS 0454–234, PKS 0426-380, B3 1343+451, PKS 0735+17, PKS B1424-418, S5 1044+71, 4C +28.07, S4 1144+40.

Fluxes are in the unit of 10-6 photons/cm2/s above 100 MeV. All errors are statistical only.

Fermi LAT weekly report N. 289


Covered period: 2013.Dec.16 – 2013.Dec.22
LAT Mission week: 289.57 - 290.57

  • 3C 279 persisted in the high stated observed the previous week and reached a daily flux of  6× 10–6  on 2013 December 20 (ATel #5680). This is the highest flux observed by the LAT since the start of the Fermi mission. The day of the peak the source showed a daily hard photon index of 1.80 +/- 0.06.
  • PKS 1730–13 detected in flaring state: the blazar reached a daily averaged flux of  1 × 10–6 on 2013 December 21 and of 1.5 × 10–6 on 2013 December 22.
  • PKS 2326–502 was detected almost all week with daily flux above 2 × 10–6.
  • PKS 0426–380 was detected all week long (daily flux between 0.4 × 10–6 and 1.1 × 10–6).
  • PKS 1424–418 was detected almost all week with a daily flux ranging between 0.4 × 10–6 and 0.8 × 10–6.
  • 4C +21.35 was detected throughout the week and reached a peak flux = 1 × 10–6  on 2013 December 20.
  • Other blazars detected in some days of the week with a daily flux lower than 1 × 10–6 : PKS 1244-255, PMN J2345-1555, PKS 0454-234, VER 0521+211, S5 1044+71, Mrk 421, B3 1343+451, CTA 102, 4C +28.07, NGC 1275, B2 1520+31, PKS 2142-75, 4C +55.17, PKS 2023-07, PKS 0716+71, B2 2308+34.

Fermi LAT weekly report N. 288


Covered period: 2013.Dec.9 – 2013.Dec.15
LAT Mission week: 288.57 - 289.57

  • FERMI J0623-3351 was detected for the first time in gamma rays on 2013 December 14.  The source showed a flux of 0.1 × 10–6 and a particularly hard gamma-ray spectrum with a photon index of 1.9+/-0.1 (ATel #5668). Follow-up observations indicated that the gamma-ray source is probably associated with the blazar PMN J0623-3350 (ATel #5684).
  • 3C 279 was detected all week with daily flux above 1 × 10–6. The highest flux reached during this week was 3.2 × 10–6 and was observed on 2013 December 10.
  • PKS 2326–502 was detected all week; the highest daily flux of 2.1 × 10–6 was recorded on 2013 December 15.
  • PKS 1510-089 was detected all week with a daily flux ranging between 0.4 × 10–6 and 0.9 × 10–6.
  • PKS 0426–380 was detected all week long (daily flux between 0.1 × 10–6 and 0.6 × 10–6).
  • 4C +21.35 was detected throughout the week and reached a peak flux = 1 × 10–6  on 2013 December 11.
  • Other blazars detected in some days of the week with a daily flux lower than 1 × 10–6 : Mrk 421, PKS 1424–418, PKS 0454-234, S5 1044+71, PKS 0208–512, NGC 1275, B3 1343+451, CTA 102, PKS 1244-255, VER 0521+211, B2 1520+31, PKS 0524–485, PKS 2142-75, 4C +28.07.
Fluxes are in the unit of photons cm–2s–1 above 100 MeV. All errors are statistical only.

Fermi LAT weekly report N. 286


Covered period: 2013.Nov.24 - 2013.Dec.1
LAT Mission week: 286.57 - 287.57

  • PKS 2326-502 was detected all week with a daily averaged flux between 0.4 x 10-6 and 1.1 x 10-6.
  • 3C 279 was detected all week reaching a daily flux of 1.5 x 10-6 on November 26.
  • PKS 1424–41 was detected all week with a daily averaged flux below 1 x 10-6.
  • BL Lacertae was not in high-state in gamma rays despite It reached the historical maximum in optcial band (ATel #5597). It was detected twice with flux of 0.3 x 10-6 and 0.4 x 10-6 (November 25 and 27).
  • VER 0521+211 was detected few times during the week reaching a daily flux of 1.5 x 10-6 on November 30.
  • Fermi J1725-3726 (short high-energy galactic transient) was detected on December 1 with a flux of 1.3 x 10-5 in the time interval 11:22 - 11:27 UTC (ATel #5625).
  • Other blazars detected in some days of the week with a daily flux lower than about 1 x 10-6: NGC 1275, PKS 1454-354 , 4C +21.35 (PG 1222+216), Mrk 421, PKS 1510–08, 4C +01.02 (PKS 0106+01), B3 1343+451, 3C 454.3, B2 1520+31 and PKS 1244-255.
